Superseal 2S – New Sealing Process: A Revolution In Anodizing
Superseal 2S – New Sealing Process: A Revolution In Anodizing
Some discoveries create the history of a science:30 years after the big invention of the “cold seal”, no other considerable research/improvement has changed the way of sealing ; now, after many years of R&D in the direction of a big step ahead in the sealing process Italtecno has developed a new know-how for a sealing process with very high performance against corrosion and also against alkali while all conventional seals fail the alkali tests.
Furthermore, resistance to alkali at a certain degree is also good for profiles and sheets for architectural application due to the frequent problem of contact with concrete during building construction and contact with alkaline cleaners during cleaning of buildings.
For “conventional” corrosion in acid it is possible to make a comparison with conventional technologies by means of all laboratory tests, accelerated tests and “field” tests. Results are exceptional, much better than any conventional seal.
As regards the performance of the sealed anodic coating against alkali, it is possible, for example, to test the new seal with automotive test (Volkswagen TL 212 and others).
The new sealing will also be one of the highlights of the “Anodizing session” at the 8th Aluminium Two Thousand Congress in Milan, May 14-18th 2013, Hotel Melia and it will also be described in details during the special “Anodizing Workshop” parallel to the Congress organized by Interall and AAC (Anodizing American Council).

Dryplus – Drastic Reduction of Sludge Volumes From Anodizing Lines
Dryplus – Drastic Reduction of Sludge Volumes From Anodizing Lines
The DRYPLUS process has been researched and patented by Italtecno with the aim to dramatically increase the “dry part” in the sludge produced as a waste in aluminium anodizing treatment lines. DRYPLUS allows to get a “dry part” equal to 40-50% of the total aluminium hydroxide sludge, in-stead of the usual 20-25% achieved in the tradi-tional processes. The environmental advantage of employing the DRYPLUS technology is evident, since the volume of sludge considered as an “industrial waste” is ac-tually halved, and the number of truck used to transport this volume of sludge is also halved. The cost effectiveness of DRYPLUS is also clear, since the costs for the disposal of the sludge is re-duced by half of what it could be with a traditional system.

Integrated Die-Clar and Crystalfix System
The advantages brought by the integration of DIE-CLAR (an innovative system for the cleaning of dies used in aluminium extrusion industry) and CRYSTALFIX (the most updated technology for the recovery of caustic soda used in the process of dies pickling) have
been successfully proven by Italtecno on the field.
With an INTEGRATED DIE-CLAR & CRYSTALFIX SYSTEM all the advantages connected to each individual technology are summed together and provide a total answer to the problems caused by the conventional dies pickling systems

Hard Anodizing
The anodic coating is essentially aluminium oxide, which is a hard substance. Attack by hot acid at the interface will soften the coating. If there is a high degree of agitation and the electrolyte temperature is lowered to around 0°C (32°F) the softening effect is suppressed and a hard, wear resistant film is produced. A further advantage of such conditions is that by increasing the current density thicker films can be produced. Most Defence Specifications require a minimum of 50 microns (2 mil), but coatings up to 125 microns (5.0 mil) can be produced by use of special techniques for build-up applications. Coating thicknesses in the range of 15-40 microns may be specified for special applications.
ACD – Automatic Chemical Dosing
ACD – Automatic Chemical Dosing
The addition of chemicals into the tanks in an anodizing line is nowadays possible in an automatic mode.
In order to add all chemicals automatically these must be in liquid form and contained in small containers (i.e. 1 m3 volume)
If some chemicals are supplied in powder form, the containers for the automatic dosing will be connected to containers equipped with agitators, in which the powder products and D.I. water will be added.

HEA – High Efficiency Anodizing
Italtecno’s research laboratory has developed a new system for anodizing which improves:
- efficiency (LOWER ENERGY COSTS)
- consistency (BETTER REPRODUCIBILITY, lower rejects)
- quality (HARDER AND BETTER CORROSION AND ABRASION RESISTANT ANODIC COATING)
of the anodic layer.
This “system” consists of:
- a special rectifier (HEA rectifier) with changeable waveform
- a special additive for the sulphuric acid based solution (HEA LIQUID ANODIZING ADDITIVE)
- a special system of air agitation (micro-bubble “diffusion system”)
